After your visit to the Stasi prison, you may feel like taking a walk to explore some of the nicer venues around the area. One option is Obersee, which boasts a lovely little park and charming houses dating back to 1900. Additionally, there's an architectural gem worth checking out - Villa Lemke from 1932, designed by the Bauhaus master architect Mies van der Rohe. Though small, the villa is a stunning example of modernist design and was originally built for a businessman and his wife before they were kicked out by the Soviets. Luckily, a Stasi engineer later saved the house from demolition. If you have time, be sure to catch one of the temporary exhibitions, which are typically open in the afternoons.
