Testimonials

Jourdan B. from Barcelona, Spain

"I have traveled around a good part of Europe and have taken tons of tours. This is the first tour, in my experience, that the guide truly loved his or her job, really wanted to impress experiences onto the group, and was interesting and enjoyable. Jeremy was able to be dynamic and give me exactly the kind of tour I wanted in a story-like way.

His extremely professional manner, starting with email confirmations before we arrived, carried throughout the tour, and was evident in his follow-up. Having an American's perspective, Jeremy was able to show us parts of Berlin (and concentration camps outside of the city) and really add his own unique flavor into his tour.

He was very flexible and personalized with us - he drove us in his car 45 minutes to Sachsenhausen, changed our itinerary while on the tour, recommended great attractions/restaurants/clubs/bars and was an overall great asset to have in a foreign city. I would 100% recommend his services for any Berlin tour."

Leon and Susie K., Mexico City

"This was our first time in Berlin, and touring it guided by Jeremy was a true pleasure. Not only is he a really nice person, and also extremely knowledgeable, whatever he says really comes from the heart. He took us through the nooks and crannies of the City, everyplace we stopped there was a story to learn from. He really pushed us to take advantage of the time, and not miss the important stuff that could only be learned from a guide like him. Once we got back home, and compared notes with our friends that had also visited Berlin, there is no doubt that Jeremy helped us take our visit to the next level. Thank you Jeremy"

Ingrid, Heidenheim, Germany

"It was a pleasure to meet you . The tour was just perfect so there is no suggestion to make your tour better. When I need a tour guide for Berlin I will definitely recommend you! :-)"

Jonathan and Jeffery from San Francisco, CA, USA

"We, two retired gentlemen from San Francisco, recently spent an eight-day week in Berlin. For three of those days we employed Jeremy Minsberg to give us an in-depth tour around that fascinating city. We have had private guides around other European cities and I must say that Jeremy is among the best. He is extremely knowledgeable, answering the most arcane questions and showing us parts of the city we would never have visited by ourselves. Berlin is a complicated city with layer upon layer of historical levels. Jeremy was able to guide us through all of them with enthusiasm, greatly enriching our experience of the city. He is also very charming and funny and personable. Our three days with him were both educational and delightful. You couldn't go wrong with Jeremy as your Berlin guide"

Phil and Lynn S., Chicago, IL, USA

"While planning our first visit to Berlin in September we discovered Jeremy via the internet and arranged to spend a day with him.  I am always a bit leery when arranging for a private tour without a firsthand referral. My apprehension disappeared after five minutes with Jeremy. His knowledge, energy, good humor and insight into the city of Berlin resulted in an outstanding travel experience. We are not "check the box" kind of travelers and Jeremy made it a point to get off the beaten path and introduce us to some unique aspects of the city. My wife is a fan for life as Jeremy made sure to stop at a shop selling the best chocolate croissant in all of Berlin."

Valentine, Tel Aviv, Israel

"We were visiting Berlin (2 couples) in October and used a services of Jeremy Minsberg. Jeremy met us in the hotel and took us to a wonderful walking tour throughout Berlin’s tourist's sites. With his vast knowledge Jeremy succeed to show us hidden and interesting things in Berlin’s most known tourist's sites. We spent with Jeremy 5 hours without even noticing. Kind and attentive he tried to "fit" the tour as we go along according to our interests. Certainly recommended for all, especially on your first/second day in the city. This way, in the rest of your staying you will have a much better understanding of the city."

Fred and Alison, London, England

"While in Berlin to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Wall, my wife and I enjoyed two half-day tours with absolutely the BEST tour guide we've ever had: Mr. Jeremy Minsberg knows Berlin, its history, its neighborhoods, its people, and its sights. It was less of a tour and more of a long, highly informative, thoroughly enjoyable walk with a friend. Jeremy certainly knows his facts, but he also shares true insight into the "whys and hows" of Berlin, new and old. As a US expat living in Berlin, Jeremy has a strong ability to bridge cultures, which helped us to better understand the city, its history, and its people. The tour was ours to design, and Jeremy planned and paced it perfectly. We were able to see and discuss what we wanted, when we wanted. Jeremy even included historical photos of the sights as they were seen through history. We recommend that you take one or two tours with Jeremy at the start of your visit to Berlin - It was a perfect orientation for us and really helped us enjoy Berlin."

Peter Koenig, Cincinnati, USA

"As English is my only language (and some question that), over the past few years I have retained the services of private tour guides in Rome, Paris, Florence, Venice, Luca, Tuscan Hill Towns, Praque, and Berlin, and, of all these guides, many of whom have been outstanding, Jeremy of Berlin, could very well be the Best!"

S. Miseljic, Boston, MA, USA

"I have done a city tour of Berlin with Jeremy last  October . It was a great experience overall, as he is a very knoweadgable guide and a pleasant companion. We have covered pretty much entire city in several hours - without Jeremy and with my travel books only it would take me several days to accomplish the same. Being a Berlin resident of many years, Jeremy has a great insider knowledge and we have seen and visited many off the beaten track places and little known sights. I highly recommend his services especially for first time visitors of this great city."

Paul and Katina Hogan, Sydney, Australia

"We visited Berlin in January 2009 with two other families. On a bitterly cold day (for us Australians) we were fortunate to have Jeremy take us on a walking tour of the city. What a fantastic day. We planned for 3-4 hours but it turned into 7 hours as Jeremy kept us enthralled (adults and children alike) with his deep understanding of the history and intrigue that is Berlin. This day spent with Jeremy was one of the highlights of our month in Europe."

Amit G, Cork, Ireland

“My tour with Jeremy was absolutely fantastic! I was only in Berlin for a short stay and Jeremy was more than accommodating with regards to meeting me, showing me what I wanted to see and making sure I had a great time while doing it. His knowledge of the city is unparalleled and what I liked most about the tour was how personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable he was.  Facts you wouldn’t normally hear on generic group tours, sites with unknown histories and current pop culture all make his trip through Berlin an absolute pleasure. I don’t think there was a single question he couldn’t answer; he truly is the Berlin Expert!

The beauty of a tour with Jeremy is that it’s so pliable. He’ll provide a framework of what he ‘can’ show you, but ultimately it’s your tour and he adjusts to make sure you get the most out of it. If you feel more like art rather than history, shopping rather than dining, politics over nature, cheesy photo shots over hidden gems; whatever you feel like Jeremy makes sure you finish the tour feeling fulfilled.

Having taken many generic tours in the past, it was a pleasant surprise to meet someone like Jeremy; someone with a true passion for a city and whose knowledge is unsurpassed. Jeremy will make sure you see a Berlin from a Berliner’s eye, and you experience what only a true local can show you. Jeremy IS the Berlin Expert and a tour with him will leave you wanting to return to Berlin faster than you know.”

Tony S, Brisbane, Australia

"My family and I visited Berlin in January 2009 and asked Jeremy to take us on a walking tour of "the highlights". In spite of the -7C temperature Jeremy kept us enthralled and eager for nearly six hours. His knowledge and insight was superb while his relaxed and friendly manner was particularly engaging. His historical understanding was well-balanced by his appreciation of contemporary Berlin life and was delivered in an even-handed and unbiased fashion.

My fifteen year old daughter felt the highlight of her trip to Berlin was the time we spent with Jeremy! Thank you for a great day and we will definitely do another tour with you on our return to Berlin."

Susie and Maury B, Florida, USA

“Selecting Jeremy as your Berlin guide is like winning the Trifecta, an extremely knowledgeable person of Jewish heritage that knows the history of East/West Berlin and best of all , a sensitive, caring, and fun loving guide that will make the trip to Berlin everything one hopes for.”

Carmen and Sean, Brussels, Belgium

“We had a really good time with Jeremy. We learned so many things about Berlin that books don't show such as its culture, people and way of living. We spent one day with him and we saw all of the main sights and without having to worry about getting lost wandering around trying to find them ourselves!!  Jeremy is very friendly and more than willing to answer any questions that you ask and he will tailor his tour to meet your needs.”

Cathy and Randy P, Arizona, USA

“Thank you so much for our wonderful tour of Berlin.   It was one of our favorite parts of our European vacation.   Since we were only in Berlin for a day and a half, there is no way we could have seen so much if we hadn't had such a wonderful, knowledgeable guide.  We especially appreciated the way you pointed out so many movie and film sites, as you knew we were very interested in them.

But the best part of the tour was the stories you told us about all the sites we were seeing.   So much fascinating information and the old photos were definitely helpful in bringing the history alive.   We can't wait for our next trip to Germany, and we will definitely tour with you then, as there are so many more sites we would like to visit and those we would love to see again!”

Barry and Alice D, New York, USA

“Sometimes we get lucky!  My husband and I had only 2 days to visit Berlin.  I told Jeremy via email the points of interest I would like to visit but left our itinerary totally in his capable hands. From the Berlin Wall and the Brandenburg Gate, to the site of Hitler's Bunker to the Reichstag, Jeremy left no stones unturned.  The Wansee Villa where the minutes of "The Final Solution of the Jewish Question" can be read to Potsdam, with its beautiful palaces and famous parks, Jeremy's knowledge of history was incredible.  We learned so much in such a short time.  Would I recommend Jeremy, "The Berlin Expert"...ABSOLUTELY!”

Ron and Wendy M, New York, USA

“Jeremy was a huge part of our "Berlin experience" and our memory of our trip this past October.  He is knowledgeable and passionate about this city and its history.  He is also lots of fun!  He made everything come alive and at the end of our time with you, we felt like he was part of our family.”

Peter van B, The Netherlands

“We want to thank you again for your excellent guiding. We feel you are a nice person and an excellent tour guide, you deserve the name: the Berlin expert.”

Christine Ansbacher, New York City, USA

"This travel tip turned our Berlin getaway into a more memorable holiday. My group hired a private guide who turned out to be part historian/part storyteller/part actor. He doesn't just rattle off facts -- he spins yarns, weaves tales and draws you into the storyline of that day's tour theme. He certainly knows how to hold an audience! He also brings the city to life with scores of pre-war & post-war photos. Another plus, Jeremy is a US expat, so he's easy to understand. I can truly say he is the best private guide I've ever hired in the world.”

Joann and Harvey S, Arizona, USA

“The smartest thing we did while visiting Berlin was to hire Jeremy Minsberg as a personal guide. Berlin came alive on our first visit to this fascinating city thanks to the introduction provided by Jeremy. He is a fountain of information and energy which not only got us started on the right foot but gave us a whole itinerary for the balance of our three-day stay in Berlin as well as our next visit.  What we learned was exceeded only by the fun we had in the process.”

Bruce and Merrie,  MN, USA

"If you want to really see a city, you must go with a resident of that city who truly knows it, loves it and enjoys it.   Jeremy, who came to Berlin as a skeptic,  was able to show and share a broad vision of  Berlin's history, the good and the bad juxtaposed with  Berlin of the present as well as its vision for the future. His  enthusiasm and understanding of human nature as well as his innate curiosity make him a skilled observer and outstanding teacher.

Sharing his passion for Berlin as well as his incredible knowledge of  its history, culture and politics, Jeremy Minsberg gave us more  insight and information in one day than we could have gotten in a week  on a "canned" tour.  Our main interest was in seeing and learning  about Jewish Berlin...  That we did with a sensitivity and depth that  we truly appreciated.  Seeing the devastation from  the war, still  obvious, as well as the incredible examples of Germans' acknowledgement of their past and their sincere contrition, helped us  to begin to understand the face of modern Jewish Berlin.  There is so very  much to this complex city.  Jeremy helped guide us to the parts that were important for us to see and understand.  It was a time very well  spent and which will be well remembered.

Cooper was a great asset when we toured with Jeremy. Most people have an extra smile when a friendly four legged friend is with you...so it is much easier to meet and greet people with her along.

She will surely introduce you to her friends along the way. She is an experienced tour guide so make sure you wear your most comfortable walking shoes."

Inkie, St. Paul, MN, USA

"When I visited Berlin, I had a great time seeing the city with Jeremy as my private tour guide. Because Jeremy knows Berlin like his back pocket (or another expression of that nature), including the transportation system, I saw in one day what would have taken me at least three days to figure out by myself. We walked, took the bus or subway, walked some more, and visited government building, museums and quaint neighborhoods.

Jeremy's stories about all these sites made things all the more interesting and enjoyable. I would "do" Berlin with Jeremy again anytime."

Ed Bronfin, Denver, CO, USA

"My friends and I had the privilege of spending a day with Jeremy as our private tour guide in Berlin. Starting from the Brandenbug Gate, we luckily had a short line at the Reichstag and an amazing view and scene of Berlin from the new dome. We walked for hours and hours, ate, relaxed, had a drink and were thoroughly immersed in the history, architecture, traditions and stories of old, new, Jewish, gay and modern Berlin from a guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of the city and its history. Little and seemingly insignificant points took on great significance with Jeremy's explanation. We walked by a hospital in the eastern part of the city and Jeremy explained why (rather than a red cross) there was a red box painted on the building some 60 years ago.

Jeremy is easy-going, totally knowledgeable and reliable, and certainly the best tour guide I've ever had the privilege of working with. And, to know that he contributes a portion of what we pay to charity made a wonderful day take on even more significance. Jeremy guided a group of 8 guys with diplomacy, aplomb and kept our interest throughout an 9-hour day. I can't recommend him or his Berlin tour guide services more highly."

Cora and Onno, Amersfoort, The Netherlands

"Why should anyone choose to be guided through Berlin by someone who doesn't come from this city and who isn't even a German? The answer is simple:
Because of Jeremy's unbelievable knowledge of Berlin and its history; because he takes you off the beaten tracks and because he is able to give the whole tour experience an extra zest.

During our visit Jeremy piloted us with never ending enthusiasm, by foot walking through Germany's capital for several days, adding his personal touch to the obvious sights one comes to Berlin for and doesn't want to miss and introducing us to the sights one would surely miss having a traditional guide. Or no tour guide at all.

During those tours he was able to answer all of our many questions and fed us with wonderful information and the best patty-melt in town. He must have walked every inch of this city a dozen times or more, trying to find out all its hidden secrets. He must have read almost everything that has been published about Berlin. He kept amazing us. Jeremy can truly say: Ich bin ein Berliner!

On top of all this: He is an interesting, intelligent and adventurous guy who respects other people's views and he is fun to be with.

It was the best visit we ever had in any city, in spite of the fact that at the end, we had no feet left!"

The Perkins Family, Sharon, MA, USA

"Our family came to Berlin to learn more about Jewish history.  It was as if Jeremy could read our minds, showing us everything that we wanted to see in a way that only a Jew could.  We visited historically significant sites, unmarked for fear of Neo-Nazi worship, such as where Hitler was burned after committing suicide.  He also showed us the changes in modern day Berlin, as the city and its people acknowledge their mistakes both privately and publicly through architecture and memorials.  Learning this helped our family release anger towards current Germany and its innocent new generations.

Seeing everything that we saw put everything in perspective.  All of a sudden, the movies and books about the Holocaust came to life.  The emotion was powerful as the atrocities became more tangible.  The toughest, yet most educational, sites that we visited were the concentration camp Sachsenhausen, Hitler's propaganda at Olympic Stadium, and the Wannsee House where the final solution was decided upon.

Jeremy emphasized the importance of asking him questions, and we did just that.  Our family asked him about a myriad of subjects and we took advantage of Jeremy's vast knowledge.  We not only learned about Jewish Holocaust history in Berlin, we also learned about world history, current day politics, and the meaning behind Berlin's transparent architecture.  Having Jeremy as our guide made the difference between an ordinary vacation and a truly lifelong memorable few days. We would highly recommend Jeremy as a guide to anyone visiting Berlin."

Gordon and Anne K., Montreal, Canada

"My wife and I are from Canada and we decided to hire a guide for our trip to Berlin during the last week of June 2008. Luckily for us, we had Jeremy Minsberg as our personal guide. He not only knows Berlin inside out, but he is a pleasure to be with because of his personality, enthusiasm and his ability to adapt to our needs and desires. No question is foolish and no question remains unanswered. Jeremy quickly becomes a friend showing us around his town in a casual, informative manner. If he is available when you visit Berlin we recommend that you hire him as your guide. He is excellent."

Patrick from Minneapolis, USA

"I feel like I know Berlin pretty well, having lived there three times for over two years total, so I asked Jeremy to take us on a tour of his "best kept secrets" of Berlin.

He took us on a fabulous, extensive tour (foot and public transit) and I got to see things I had never seen, and revisit things I had long forgotten. He was enthusiastic, well prepared, brought along great "props" and even arranged perfect weather for us. If you want someone to show you Berlin, Jeremy is your man. "

Sheryl and Chester, Roslyn, NY, USA

"We had a one-day tour of Berlin with Jeremy Minsberg, "The Berlin Expert", and it was one of the most memorable days of our travel lives. Jeremy's knowledge is encyclopedic, he communicates it in an interesting way (never dull), and gears the itinerary to what interests you most. He is also a "mensch" - a genuinely likeable, good-hearted, personable man. He is a real pleasure to be with, and you won't even notice how much you've walked until the day ends, because virtually every minute is interesting, engaging, and pleasurable."

Smith A, New York City, USA

"My mother, step-father, sister and I recently returned from Berlin where we were extremely fortunate to spend the entire day touring around the city with Jeremy. Having traveled extensively in Europe and received personal tours in a number of cities (including Rome, Prague and Istanbul) I can honestly say that the tour of Berlin Jeremy took us on was by far the best I and the rest of my family has ever experienced. As other posters have mentioned, Jeremy's knowledge of the city's expansive history is simply scholarly. Being native New Yorkers we asked Jeremy to take us on a tour by foot with the occasional use of Berlin's fantastic public transportation system. In this way Jeremy was able to provide us with an extensive introduction into many of the city's notable buildings and landmarks. He provided countless photographs collected from years of research to help illustrate how dramatically the city has changed over the years. With every step we took Jeremy was able to provide us with new and interesting information. I have no doubt that many of the things we learned and saw with Jeremy's help would have otherwise passed way below the typical vacationing tourists' radar. Jeremy also gave us recommendations for other places to visit and dine while we were staying in Berlin. [...]

In summation: If you are planning an upcoming trip to Berlin get in touch with Jeremy as soon as possible. He is very easy to get in touch with and responds swiftly by email. I am certain that just as it was for my family, a tour with Jeremy as your guide will be the highlight of your trip."

Greg and Janna, Kansas, USA

"We were on a Baltic cruise and had a very limited time in Berlin, but we were able to see an amazing amount of the city due to our fantastic tour guide. Jeremy Minsberg has got to be the best guide in the city of Berlin. He is amazingly knowledgeable about the city, its history, government, etc."

Bill G & Olivia, Toronto, Canada

"Jeremy thank you for achieving the nearly impossible. You have succeeded in keeping Marika and myself and our 14 year old granddaughter fascinated by the sites you have shown us. Your good humor, patience and vast knowledge of Berlin, made our trip and unforgettable experience. "

Bill and Jeff, Connecticut, USA

"Recently spent 4 days in Berlin and Jeremy was our guide. He is professional, incredibly bright and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history and people of Berlin. I can't say enough good things about Jeremy but I will say that I plan to return to Berlin and enlist him again to see those areas I missed. Thanks so much Jeremy!"

Jon & Eileen F, Ra'anana, Israel

"We took a chance and teamed up with Jeremy through the internet. This turned out to be the best decision of our trip!

He understood our interests, needs and constraints from the start and tailored our very limited time into a visit that we will always remember and treasure. This could only have been achieved by a professional, which he is in every sense of the word. He is also blessed with an easy, outgoing personality which added to our enjoyment. Thank you Jeremy!"

Len and Jackie, Philadelphia, PA, USA

"We toured with Jeremy in the city on foot and on public transportation on the first day. This planned 4 hour tour quickly turned into 7 hours, and this total stranger became our friend. We were able to cover so much territory in such a concentrated period of time!

On the second day, Jeremy took us to more distant sites in Berlin including the Olympic Stadium, Wannsee, and Potsdam, to name a few.
We were so pleased with Jeremy that we booked a third day, and he took us to some less well know sites in East Berlin and even traveled to the Polish Border to see the battlefield where the final Battle for Berlin began at the Seelow Heights.

We never could have covered the ground that we did in such a short period of time without him. We have traveled extensively throughout Europe, and have had our share of knowledgeable guides, but Jeremy Minsberg was truly the best. His understanding of the history Of WWII, the Cold War, and general Berlin history far surpassed anything that we were prepared for.
We can recommend him as a “Berlin Expert” and great tour guide without reservation."

Gabrielle S, Manhattan Beach, CA, USA

"Jeremy made Berlin the most incredible experience!! My family recently traveled to Berlin, Prague and Vienna. In each city we engaged private tour guides. Jeremy’s knowledge, passion and insight were unparalleled. Not to mention his unbelievable companionship. In fact, throughout the rest of our trip, we continued to remark that we should have invited Jeremy to join us! Jeremy made Berlin come alive, introducing us to the city’s culture and history in the most invigorating and engaging manner.

Without being bound by a formal and restrictive timetable, we spent the better part of our 2.5 days in Berlin with Jeremy. He customized our tour as we progressed through the city and as he learned more about our interests. After learning about our love of architecture, he introduced us to the most phenomenal of buildings, about which we would have never known in his absence. In addition, he paced our tours based on our energy levels, always being able to take us to the best places when we were in need of refreshments or an opportunity to sit down.

Jeremy’s familiarity with all things relating to Berlin made him invaluable during our brief time there. We look forward to spending more time with him on our next trip!"

Kind regards, Kelly R, London, England / New York City, USA

"Just a quick note to thank you so very much for spending time with us this past weekend while we were in Berlin. I know I am speaking for everyone when I say you were the highlight of our trip and exceeded our highest expectations! You truly made this weekend one of the best I have experienced during my time abroad and I will always remember the lessons, stories and history that you taught me.  Please know that I will be recommending you to all of my friends and colleagues who plan to spend time in Germany. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and thank you again for a wonderful tour and teaching us about history of Berlin."

Leah Bergman, Los Angeles, CA, USA

"We have just returned from an 18 day trip of major European capital cities including Paris, Vienna, and Athens.  However, it was our stay in Berlin that made the biggest impression, and it was because of our guide, Jeremy Minsberg.   We had visited all of these cities before and consider ourselves experienced and adventuresome travelers who rarely use a guide.  However, on this trip, we had limited time in Berlin and decided to take a chance.  Jeremy was outstanding.  He is a Minnesota transplant who has lived in Berlin for seven years and has a thorough knowledge of the city, surrounding areas, and all of its history.  Jeremy is articulate, engaging, sophisticated, and has a wealth of knowledge regarding Berlin’s place on the world stage, past and present. My husband and I highly recommend anyone visiting the city to contact Jeremy at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ."

Scott and the gang from Oslo, Norway

"I can warmly recommend Jeremy Minsberg, The Berlin Expert, to anyone travelling to Berlin interested in more than just taking pictures.
I planned a long-weekend to Berlin with my wife and a few friends and luckily found a chat that recommended The Berlin Expert. After a very successful tour with Jeremy I will try to get a guide whenever I visit a new city. It was the highlight of our trip and turned a normal short holiday into an unforgettable experience.  Jeremy was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and receptive. We gained an insight of Berlin that isn’t possible by reading guides or by (ouch) taking a bus tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jeremy and the time spent with him. We will remember Berlin with a better understanding of what Berlin has been and what it has now become. Job well done Jeremy !!! Our very best regards."
